Fall Immersion: Tantra + the Sacred Power of Life – Chakras, Kundalini and Shakti – w/ Ben Oct. 6-9, 2024 Ely, Mn

Tantra + the Sacred Power of Life:

Chakras, Kundalini and Shakti

October 6-9 – Ely, Mn

Our annual Fall Immersion is intended for yogis looking for deeper study and practice of yoga in a communal retreat setting.  This year we will be delving into:

Tantra is an ancient branch of yogic science, which views whole of life as sacred. Tantrics see and experience the universe as an expression of two co-eternal forces: Consciousness (shiva) and Creative Power (shakti). Consciousness is the transcendent yet immanent field of intelligence which endows all things with an essential nature (dharma), the inner knowing of how to fulfill dharma, and interweaves the dharma of all things. Shakti is the creative power or force, of which everything that comes into being is an expression. In this understanding, human beings are microcosms of the larger whole – we are living temples of shiva and shakti. To be born human is a gift and an opportunity. Just as there are concentrated sacred spaces in the outer world, so to there are sacred sites within the human being. These are known as the chakras – concentrated centers of consciousness and energy, linked by the sushumna nadi, or “sacred river of energy” at the core of our being. Tantric Yoga aims to awaken these through practice, to realize our true nature and the sacred essence of life known as kundalini shakti.

This immersion will delve experientially into Tantra and the sacred power of life. We will integrate dharma teachings, holistic practices (asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, chanting, kriya, yoga nidra, self-reflection, etc.), meditative ritual and time in nature and community. Our in-depth exploration will include:

  • What is Tantra?
  • The Living Temple of Being Human
  • Prana – balancing and awakening through the life force
  • Chakras: Exploring the sacred centers and their powers
  • Kundalini Shakti: Awakening to and embodying the power of the infinite
  • Granthis – the psychic knots which block our awakening
  • Shakti: Tantric practices to awaken power, bring forth dharma and transform karma
  • Practices for awakening (to) kundalini skillfully:
  • Hatha Yoga to prepare for Awakening
  • Mantra – The power of sacred sound
  • Kriya – Active tantric meditation for transformation
  • Yantra – Sacred geometry of of the subtle body
  • The Yoga of Ritual

Testimonials:

“I have attended several fall immerisons. Each one has been an enriching, nourishing, and powerful experience through Ben’s thoughtful, insightful, and poetic teachings. The most profound aspect of this sacred time is shedding the noise of the outer everyday world of tasks, to-do lists, and responsibilities to focus on the quietness of the inner self and life for a few days. I leave with a deeper understanding of my practice that I have carried forth in my everyday life and that continues to unfold. Every fall I look forward to reuniting with the astounding beauty of the north woods (especially Burntside Lake!) and the warm, welcoming community.”

Four Desires Immersion: March 7-9 in Minneapolis w/ Ben

Posted by on Jan 9, 2024 in immersion, meditation, Retreats, tantra, Uncategorized, yoga | Comments Off on Four Desires Immersion: March 7-9 in Minneapolis w/ Ben

The Four Desires

According to ancient understanding, each of us is genius – “born with spirit.” We come into life with an essential way of being (dharma), endowed with unique talents and gifts. Each of longs for the fulfillment of knowing who we are and bringing these forth – for these are the gifts and medicine we are here to offer to the life of the world. We will also inevitably face hardship, challenge and suffering. These painful rites of passage return us to eternal questions: : “Who am I?”, “Why am I here?”, “Why is there pain in life and what can i do about it?”, “What am I called to?”, “How can I best serve life?”. When lived into, these inquiries initiate us into deeper ways of seeing and being. They stir the essential longings of the soul to realize the greater purpose and potential of our lives.

Yoga identifies four universal aims of human life. Collectively, they are known as the pursharthas or “the means of the soul”. They are:

  •  Dharma: To realize who we are and fulfill the greater purpose of our lives
  •  Artha: What we need materially and non-materially to realize our dharma
  •  Kama: Joy and Happiness
  • Moksha: Freedom from suffering, healing and freedom the to live the lives we are called to

When we understand how we relate to each of them uniquely, they form a blueprint for a life of balance, empowerment and fulfillment

Unfortunately, most in our modern world tend to misdirect the power of these desires. Those inclined toward material thriving tend to seek fleeting pleasures, rather than investing in the life’s work of Self-Realization. Only to end up unfulfilled, stressed and left wanting more. Those inclined toward spiritual thriving tend to reject desire as narcissistic, lessening its capacity to bring forth healing, awakening and inspired living.  The ancient seers understood that worldly and spiritual thriving are expressions of a life well lived. When awakened, dharmic desire aligns us with the ultimate reality, and empowers us to bring forth our essential genius in service of life!

Realizing your life’s potential requires conscious attention and dedication –  you must walk the path of your destiny!

The key to desire empowering us is to see clearly what we really want, to stay open to learning from life, and to work skillfully and selflessly toward its realization.

In this immersion, Ben will guide and support you through the Four Desires – a profound and transformative introspective process, as laid out by Rod Stryker in his book “The Four Desires.”  We will use yogic teachings + practices, self-reflection, and journaling to:

  • Uncover your soul’s purpose for being in this life
  • Rediscover how each of the four desires resonates uniquely in your life
  • Re-cognize self-limiting patterns which keep you from fulfilling your potential
  • Learn to use these “obstacles” as a means to self-transformation
  • Create a vow of tangible action toward the realization of our calling
  • Learn techniques and practices for personal empowerment and self-mastery
  • Explore the power of right desire to transform your life and the world

Immersion Schedule:

  • March 7 – 9:30-5
  • March 8 – 10-5
  • March 9 – 10-5

There will be a 75 minuted break in the middle of each day.

Yogic Meditation Immersion +

Optional Teacher Training

outdoor meditation devanadi yoga

w/ Ben Vincent and Tanya Boigenzahn
Begins
January 2026

This immersive program is for all sincere seekers and students of Yoga looking to (re)commit to, deepen, and refine their practice of meditation. It begins with a year-long immersion to learn the essential purpose, preparations, processes, and practices of Yogic meditation – all with the support of experienced teachers and a sacred community.  Tanya and Ben will guide you to becoming firmly established in your meditation practice so that you may embody its peace and power in all aspects of your life.

About the Program

Yoga is a sacred science (vidya) of Self-Realization – a holistic system of teachings and practices to know our true Selves, commune with the Ultimate Reality (brahman), and bring forth the greater potential and purpose of life. For thousands of years, meditation has been at the heart of the Yoga tradition. The process of Yogic meditation is unique in that it mirrors the journey of human life. It helps us to sustainably unfold and bring healing and awakening to all the layers of our being. As we continue the journey of practice we realize freedom, fulfillment, joy, and connection with the whole of life.

The timeless teachings and practices of Yogic meditation are as relevant today as ever. Amidst the busy-ness, stress, and turbulence of our modern lives, the postures, breathwork, and relaxation of Hatha Yoga have become very popular.  However, without meditation it is an incomplete science.  Meditation allows us to experience our unchanging essence, True Self or Soul, allowing us to live skillfully and gracefully in a world of change.

Following the year-long immersion, graduates will then have the opportunity to enroll in our 3-4 month teacher training module to learn how to transmit and share Yogic meditation as a teacher.

Tanya and Ben have created this program based on more than 50 years of combined study, personal practice, study and teaching.

“Carving out time and traveling for the fall retreat has become an integral part of caring for myself.  Each time I have gone, Ben and Angela create a space where I can grow new insight, disconnect from daily living, and listen closely to my inner wisdom. Getting enough sleep, eating well, spending time in nature…all while moving slowly, practicing, and learning together creates an experience that is so different from daily living, and also helps me to bring more of those practices back into my life at home.”

New Years Workshop: The Power of Inspired Intention – Jan 1, 1-4 pm

Posted by on Nov 11, 2015 in immersion, meditation, ritual, sacred, Uncategorized, yoga | 0 comments

New Year’s Day Yoga Workshop

Sankalpa Shakti: The Power of Inspired Intention

January 1st, 2025 – 1:00-4:00 pm

In Person + Livestream through  One Yoga

Transitions in life – such as the New Year – awaken the human inclination for self-reflection. Any time we return to the eternal questions “Who am I?” and “How do I wish to live?”, is an auspicious time for yoga and spiritual inquiry. The New Years Yoga Workshop is an annual tradition of reflection and envisioning to support our inquiry.

This year we will explore the power of Sankalpa or “Inspired Intention”. It is not just any intention; it is a vow of heartfelt desire and willful determination. Sankalpa is a statement of guidance from our Highest Self, revealed through listening to our inner wisdom. By allowing us to see clearly what we really seek, Sankalpa empowers the mind to move from intention to realization.

The yoga tradition identifies four essential human desires that compel all our actions: meaning, prosperity, happiness and freedom. Through teaching, practice and self-reflection we will use these desires as the basis for exploring and realizing your Sankalpa. This vow becomes the force that brings our thoughts, choices and actions into alignment with our True Nature – empowering our ability to act while lessening our resistances, uncertainties and fear.

In this workshop, we will:

  • Learn the teaching of Sankalpa and the four essential human desires: meaning, prosperity, joy and freedom
  • Practice postures, breathing, meditation and chanting to support self-inquiry
  • Experience a guided process of meditation, self-reflection and journaling to reveal your sankalpa
  • Make a commitment of a 40 day practice to empower your sankalpa

Your Investment:  Sliding Scale starts at $50.

Space is limited for in person attendance, Pre-Registration is required.  For more information, or to pre-register  through One Yoga’s Website

All the best to you and your loved ones this Holidays and New Year.
