Vinyasa Krama- The Art & Science of Skillful Sequencing
The 3rd Annual Summer Yoga Intensive is offered with the intention of sharing the deeper teachings and practices of yoga with committed students and teachers in the Twin Cities. This years’ theme is “Vinyasa Krama” – the intelligent sequencing of postures, pranayama and meditation.
We will use Yoga, Tantra and Ayurveda as the foundation from which to explore the physical, mental and energetic effects of various asanas, pranayamas and meditations. Vinyasa Krama is based on the ancient tradition of yoga being passed individually from teacher to student, allowing practices to be personalized and balancing. By studying and applying these principles, Yoga becomes a means to realizing our fullest capacity for healing, empowerment and well-being in our lives.
This intensive will incorporate the best of modern and ancient sciences to create practices that are safe, effective and transformative. Morning classes will feature longer practices (asana, pranayama and mediation) designed to evidence the principles and efficacy of Vinyasa Krama. Afternoon and evening classes will include in-depth teaching, Q + A, and shorter practices.
Subjects covered during this training will include:
- The essentials of Tantra and Ayurveda relevant to yoga practice
- Creating the arc of a yoga practice from- centering to closing meditation-everything in between
- The essentials of Vinyasa Krama: Inspired Intention, preparation, adaptation & Prati-Kriya (counter-action)
- Physical/bio-mechanincal principles for safe and effective sequencing
