Essential teachings of the Bhagavad Gita
Fridays 12:30-2:30, Jan 22 + Feb 12- March 11
Join Ben for a special six weeks series exploring the universal spiritual teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. The Bhagavad Gita or “The Song of The Blessed One” is widely considered to be India’s most beloved spiritual text. It is an allegory of the human struggle to overcome suffering and live our highest truths (dharma) in the world. The Gita is based on the story of the great warrior Arjuna, who just before battle, realizes the humanity of his enemies. In his crisis, he consults his charioteer and teacher Krishna, to help him. Krishna then expounds upon the teachings of the essential paths of yoga, including:
- Raja Yoga (the yoga of meditation)
- Karma Yoga (the yoga of selfless action)
- Bhakti Yoga (the yoga of love and devotion)
- Jnana Yoga (the yoga of insight)
- Tantra
- Sankhya Philosophy
- Universal yogic themes of: the nature of the soul, dharma, karma, non-attachment, selfless action, love and devotion.
For those seeking a life of truth, empowerment and freedom, these are timeless teachings. For dedicated yogis, the Gita is an essential text – an eternal guide on the path of life.
Each class will incorporate a dharma talk (teaching on the text), meditation, chanting and group discussion. Please bring a copy of the Bhagavad Gita, you can find recommendations at www.vincentyoga.com
